However, the weather and landscapes of Annapurna Circuit Trek are perfect for trekking throughout the year. You need to take some precautions in the off-season, though.

Trekking Annapurna Circuit in Autumn

September, October, and November are months of Autumn. The weather is very moderate and suitable for trekking. It comes after the monsoon season. So, the weather is very clear and dust-free.

The lower regions are very warm, with an average temperature of 15 degrees Celsius during the daytime and 7 to 8 degrees during the night. The higher regions are colder than the lower regions. But it is bearable with proper clothes.

Among the three months of Autumn, October and November are the most popular peak seasons. Many trekkers from all around the world trek in this favorable season. The sunny, bright, and warm days are perfect for trekking.

There is a low chance of rain or snowfall in Autumn. So, the trails are in their best condition, making it easy to trek. The perfectness invites more trekkers. Hence, the trails are crowded.

Trekking Annapurna Circuit in Spring

Spring is another perfect season for trekking. It comes after Winter. March, April, and May are three months of Spring. The warm temperature melts the snow of Winter, clearing the trails. The trails are perfect for trekking. The crystal clear view is panoramic.

In Spring, flowers get new life and begin to bloom. You see the colorful blossom of Rhododendrons and other wildflowers along the trails. The temperature is moderate, even warmer than Autumn. The average temperature is 10 degrees.

The nights are colder, and mornings are chilly in lower regions, whereas in higher altitudes, the mornings and evenings are freezing. However, it is bearable with a thick layering of warmer clothes.

By the last month of Spring, May, the temperature rises, welcoming the summer season. The temperatures range from 18 to 22 degrees. But nights are always colder in higher altitudes.

The days are very warm and cozy. The trails are in the best condition. Spring has long day hours, allowing one to explore more in natural light. Many trekkers trek during this season, which makes trials busy.

Trekking Annapurna Circuit in Winter

Winter is the coldest season in Nepal. It could be more favorable for trekking. December, January, and February are months of Winter. High passes remain closed in Winter due to safety regions.

There is a high chance of avalanches and roadblocks due to heavy snowfall. The temperature ranges from 7 to 12 degrees in lower regions. In mid-regions, it ranges from 2 to 8 degrees. While in high altitude, the temperature drops to negative.

The temperature is unbearably cold at night. If you want to avoid blocked passes, then early December is the best time. There are accommodations available even in Winter. So, you don’t have to worry about a night stay.

The days may be gloomy with snow clouds. But there is a chance to see gorgeous views of snow-capped mountains. The scenery of Winter hits differently. But due to harsh weather, trekkers avoid this season.

Winter is suitable for trekking, but you need heavy packing to prevent cold. Less crowded trails make the journey peaceful without any disturbances.

If you can bear the cold and love Winter, then you can trek. But be prepared for heavy backpacks. Remember to check the weather forecasts regularly. Also, bring snow boots and trekking gear with you.

Trekking Annapurna Circuit in Summer

Summer is the worst time for trekking. It rains heavily, making trails very muddy and slippery. There is a high risk of slipping. There is also a probability of landslides and cancellation of flights due to rain.

June, July, and August are months of the Summer Season. However, there is no rainfall at the beginning of June and end of August. The damp weather invites many pests, such as leeches and mosquitos.

However, due to the diversity in Landscapes, there are rain-shadow areas in the northern section of Annapurna Circus, where there is less chance of rainfall even during Summer. For instance, mustang, Dolpo, and Tsum Valley are rain-shadow areas.

The water bodies come into life during summer. You can see streaming waterfalls and rivers along the trails. The beauty of lush green forests, flora, and fauna keeps you busy during the trek. However, it is the least favorable time to trek.

The trails are not crowded. If you are a professional trekker, then you can choose this season. Carry rainproof backpacks and trekking equipment like crampons. Be careful of slippery trails.


Among four months, Autumn and Spring are the best feasible time for trekking, while Winter and Summer are the least favorable. Autumn and Spring are crowded due to the peak season. Summer and Winter are less crowded due to the offseason. Pick your favorite season and enjoy!
