Mohare Danda Trek is a newly opened trekking destination in the Annapurna region of Nepal. The trekking to this hill station had started in the early 2010s.

But it has become more known to the trekkers in recent years. This trek does not attract many visitors as it is still not made known to them.

Mohare Danda trek is an ideal short trek for enjoying the fantastic beauty of nature. This is a better Viewpoint and Eco-friendly community homestay Trekking in the Annapurna region

The trekking trails of Mohare Danda are connected with Ghorepani-Poon Hill. Thus, it is considered as an Alternative of “Poon Hill” version trek. The trails in this trek are less crowded,  sunny shadowed phenomenal Himalayas Views 

From Mohare danda hill can see panorama mountain Balcony views of Mt Dhaulagiri 8,167 meters, Tukuche peak 6,920 meters, Nill Giri 7,061 meters, Annapurna South 7,219 meters, Himchuli 6,441 m, Fishtail 6,993 m meters.

How to reach Mohare Danda?

Mohare Danda and Poon Hill combined trek is a 10 days trek that begins with a scenic flight/drive from Kathmandu-Pokhara-Tikhedhunga.

Tikhedhunga is where the trek starts from.  We enjoy an early morning sunrise from Poon hill viewpoint and move forward to our main destination Mohare Danda after having our breakfast at the lodge.

You will meet many tourists and get the opportunity to learn the local cultures of Gurung and Magar people in this region.

This is an ideal trekking option of the packed Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking. Aside from the fabulous natural scenes, you will experience that the trek takes you through plenty of woodlands, extending from oak to pine to rhododendron.

During your Mohare Danda trek, you will be spending overnights in the basic tea houses that are found along the trail. They serve you with good food and good rooms.

Fitness

Mohare Danda Trek is suitable for all kinds of trekkers including the adults as well as children.  The trek is basically considered as an easy to moderate climb. Thus, the fitness for the trek is relative to your own level of fitness.

The first day of the trek can be difficult for you in case you’re not used to steps. However, the beautiful and peaceful setting and easy trail once you cross the steps offer a great time for the family traveling together. 

You can get some exercises before starting the trek so that you won’t have to face any kind of muscle ache or difficulties. Walking slowly at your own pace and keeping yourself hydrated is a must to be followed for avoiding any kind of physical difficulties. 

Also, if you have any medicines prescribed by the doctor to intake, make sure you’ve brought it with you. You can also bring knee-caps to provide some support to your knee. 

Weather and climate of Mohare Danda

Mohare Danda lies in the low-mid altitude at 3,313 m above sea-level. The cloud coverage plays an important role while planning the trek.

During the month of July and August, there can be heavy cloud coverage which might reduce your chances of seeing the whole panoramic views of the mountain ranges. 

The best time to go trekking to Mohare is during the month of October to early December. This time of the year rewards the trekkers with the most amazing views of the Himalayan ranges under the deep blue sky with beautiful blossoms of flowers, and fantastic climate and vibe everywhere around. 

The second best time to go to this trek is in the month of February to April. During this time as well the surrounding offers beauty of nature at its best in full bloom. The sky is clear and deep blue that makes the views of the mountains look even more incredible. 

The trekking can also be done during winter and monsoon but the weather is relatively unfavorable making it difficult to walk through the slippery trails and extremely cold weather.

Permits Requirement

Mohare Danda Trek doesn’t require any permits. Yes! Mohare Danda lies outside the Annapurna National Park. Thus, it requires no permits either TIMS. The trek also has no checkpoints.

However, you will need to provide insurance to the guides and porters with the funds that are used to buy a TIMS card.

Except for Mohare Danda, the other trekking points fall under Annapurna National Park such as Poon Hill. Therefore, if you move onward to Poon Hill, you will require to buy a ticket for entrance. 

There is an ACAP and TIMS checkpoint in Ghorepani. If you proceed to Ghorepani from Poon Hill, you will have to buy a TIMS card or else you will be fined. 

Views along the way

Mohare Danda trek leads the trekkers to the Mohare hill station at an elevation of 3,313 m which rewards with an amazing and closest view of massive mount Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. 

Moreover, you can also see the breathtaking sunrise and sunset views over the glittering mountains from Poon Hill with an early morning hike. Besides Mt. Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, the other peaks visible from the hill station and are Machhapuchhare, Nilgiri and Hiunchuli. 

The trail along the journey offers beautiful forests of oaks, rhododendrons, small waterfalls and bridges, Khachhar (a hybrid animal) etc and the unique lifestyle and architecture of the locals and their houses. 

Difficulty in Trekking

Mohare Danda is generally considered as an easy to moderate trek. Your fitness level plays a great role in determining the difficulty grade of trekking.

Our itinerary to Mohare Danda Trek describes the walking hours and trails you will be passing through during the trek in detail. This will help you to determine whether the trek is easy or difficult for you. 

Mohare Danda Trek requires you to ascend through stone staircases on the first day of trekking. This is generally considered the most difficult part of the journey by most of the trekkers.

But the good thing is that this trek is not needed to be completed in a hurry or any kind of rush. Thus, you can slowly and gently pass by the staircases, stopping at certain points for rest and reach your destination. 

Doing a few exercises before joining the trek can be very beneficial as your muscles won’t face any kind of ache due to the walk. Also, trekking poles can be very helpful to overcome the difficulties while descending. 

Food during Mohare Danda Trek

During the Mohare Danda Trek, you will be served with a three-course meal in the basic tea houses you will be staying in along the trek. The food along the trail is delicious, nutritious and mostly vegetarian.

The probability of being served meat for your meals is very less due to the lack of enough power source to keep meat fresh and irregular supply of meat coming through the villages. Thus, the hotels serve freshly cooked Dal, Bhat with pickle and seasonal vegetables that will fill your tummy and provide you much energy to continue your journey. 

Equipment required in Mohare Danda Trek

Mohare Danda is a short and easy trek where no specialized equipment is needed. However, the stone staircases might be a bit of trouble while ascending and descending. So, you can carry a pair of trekking poles. 

Other basic equipments you should carry are:
