Overview
Kathmandu World Heritage Tour provides a close sight of Nepal. It not only showcases the rich culture of the Nepalese people but also takes you back in time through its architectural wonder. After breakfast, we commence our visits to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites that starts within the Kathmandu District. These sites include Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath and Bauddhanath.
Kathmandu Durbar Square showcases Nepalese art and architecture at its best. The architecture is typical of the Malla dynasty who ruled over Nepal from the 12th to 18th centuries. It is one of the three major places in Kathmandu valley. It is obvious to be overwhelmed by the seemingly uncountable monuments that reflect the history, in the Kathmandu Durbar Square.
The house of the Living Goddess (Kumari Ghar), the frightening God Kal Bhairab, Taleju Temple, Makhan Pashupati, handicraft shops, many Chowks (Courtyard), and erotic carvings are a few examples of the sights at the Square.
The Swayambhunath Temple or Swoyambhu is believed to be the world’s oldest Buddhist Stupa, dated the 5th century. It is situated on a beautiful hill. Swoyambhu has a compelling mix of both Hindu and Buddhist shrines and stupas. It is popularly known amongst foreigners as the Monkey Temple as there is large population of monkeys residing in the area. You can see the whole Kathmandu valley from the height of Swoyambhu temple.

Pashupatinath Temple is situated on the banks of river Bagmati. It holds great significance in Hindu’s life as it is one of the main temples of Lord Shiva. The temple area is full of other smaller temples of numerous Hindu idols which gives the whole place an ambiance of a sacred paradise. The cremation ceremony of the Hindus is also conducted at the back of this temple in the Bagmati river’s bank. During the evening time, the devotees perform ‘saajh aarati’, dances and worship songs dedicated to the Lord.
The Bauddhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in South Asia. It was built on the ancient trade route to Tibet in a Nepali Buddhist style. Besides the main stupa, there are over fifty Tibetan monasteries around the area. They were built by the Tibetan merchants and the large influx of Tibetan refugees over the years. Here, you get to appreciate the spectacular art and architecture of ancient Nepal including that of neighboring Tibet.

Itinerary
This day you are going to explore more of the world cultural heritage sites mentioned by UNESCO. After breakfast, you will move for sightseeing and exploring Pashupatinath, Boudhanath Stupa and Swayambunath.
Pashupatinath:
Pashupatinath is a famous site for tourist. It lies just three kilometer northwest of Kathmandu valley. It was listed in 1979 AD in World Heritage Sites by UNESCO World Heritage. It holds great belief to Hindus. A large number of tourist comes to visit here every year from inside or outside the country.
Boudhanath Stupa:
Boudha is the largest Stupa in Nepal which was probably built in the 14th century. It lies 7 km away from the centre of the Kathmandu, outside the Valley Ring road. It comes under World Heritage enlisted in 1979 by UNESCO World Heritage. Boudha is a holy place for Buddhist and Hinduism. There is a Buddhist monastery where many Tibetan monks come to study.
Swayambunath:
Swayambunath, which is also known as The Monkey Temple, is a famous holy place for both Hindu & Buddhist. This temple lies at the top of the hill. It receives pilgrims and tourists from every part of the world. It lies only 3 km west to the Kathmandu Valley. The site is covered with lots of stupas, temples, painted images of deities and numerous other religious objects. There are many small shrines with statues and idols as well.
Kathmandu Durbar Square:
Kathmandu Durbar Square is another main attraction of tourist in Kathmandu Valley. A large number of tourists come to visit this place because of its uniqueness in handicrafts, wood carving, the architecture of temples, statue and historical museum and also to see the Living Goddess Kumari. It is the best place to hang out with your friend.
