The main temple is a pagoda-style structure with a golden roof and intricately carved silver doors. It is believed to have been built in the 5th century, although the current structure dates back to the 17th century due to several reconstructions. The temple attracts thousands of pilgrims and devotees, especially during the Maha Shivaratri festival, which is one of the biggest annual celebrations held here. During this festival, devotees from all over Nepal and neighboring countries come to pay homage to Lord Pashupatinath and offer prayers and offerings. Apart from the main temple, the Pashupatinath complex includes various smaller temples, ashrams, and a cremation site on the bank of the Bagmati River.
