Kathmandu World Heritage Sites Tour provides a close sight of Nepal. It not only showcases the rich culture of the Nepalese people but also takes you back in time through its architectural wonder. The tour includes a visit to four different places: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Bauddhanath and Swayambhunath temples. These sites hold both religious and cultural importance to the Nepalese people and to other devotees from around the world. This destination can be taken as the Family Tour in Nepal spot.
After breakfast, we commence our visits to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites that starts within the Kathmandu District. These sites include Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath and Bauddhanath.
Kathmandu Durbar Square showcases Nepalese art and architecture at its best. The architecture is typical of the Malla dynasty who ruled over Nepal from the 12th to 18th centuries. It is one of the three major places in Kathmandu valley. It is obvious to be overwhelmed by the seemingly uncountable monuments that reflect the history, in the Kathmandu Durbar Square.
The house of the Living Goddess (Kumari Ghar), the frightening God Kal Bhairab, Taleju Temple, Makhan Pashupati, handicraft shops, hemp backpacks shop many Chowks (Courtyard), and erotic carvings are a few examples of the sights at the Square.
The Swayambhunath Temple or Swoyambhu is believed to be the world’s oldest Buddhist Stupa, dated the 5th century. It is situated on a beautiful hill. Swoyambhu has a compelling mix of both Hindu and Buddhist shrines and stupas. It is popularly known amongst foreigners as the Monkey Temple as there is large population of monkeys residing in the area. You can see the whole Kathmandu valley from the height of Swoyambhu temple.
Pashupatinath Temple is situated on the banks of river Bagmati. It holds great significance in Hindu’s life as it is one of the main temples of Lord Shiva. The temple area is full of other smaller temples of numerous Hindu idols which gives the whole place an ambiance of a sacred paradise. The cremation ceremony of the Hindus is also conducted at the back of this temple in the Bagmati river’s bank. During the evening time, the devotees perform ‘saajh aarati’, dances and worship songs dedicated to the Lord.
The Bauddhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in South Asia. It was built on the ancient trade route to Tibet in a Nepali Buddhist style. Besides the main stupa, there are over fifty Tibetan monasteries around the area. They were built by the Tibetan merchants and the large influx of Tibetan refugees over the years. Here, you get to appreciate the spectacular art and architecture of ancient Nepal including that of neighboring Tibet.
In conclusion, the Kathmandu World Heritage Sites tour will provide you an opportunity to witness the ancient art, culture, traditions, and lifestyles of different time periods in Nepal. On this tour, you will be able to learn about the different dynasties who ruled in Kathmandu.
In addition, you will also get to go to the sacred Hindu Temple Pashupatinath and the Buddhist sites of Boudhanath and Swayambunath (the Monkey Temple).
This day you are going to explore more of the world cultural heritage sites mentioned by UNESCO. After breakfast, you will move for sightseeing and exploring Pashupatinath, Boudhanath Stupa and Swayambunath.

Disappointed - I am posting this very late but I have just come across my previous communication with the company which reminded me that I had forgotten to review. I did so... read more much research before our trip, we travel a lot and understand the importance of choosing the right company to make the experience perfect but also to ensure that the company support the local community. Kisan and the company had such good reviews and we're also personally recommended by a friend that we chose them. Right up until the day before the trip Kisan said that he would be our guide, we looked forward to learning so much from him as such an experienced guide. At the last minute he was unable to take us and we were sent with another guide. The guide we were sent instead was very nice, he was pleasant and helpful but it quickly became clear that he lacked the confidence and experience to bring the trip alive for us. We saw other guides chatting with their clients and pointing out interesting things. Our guide spent most of the time just chatting in Nepali with the porter and playing music on their phones, he often ignored us for hours at a time. We tried to engage him in conversation, he would answer our questions but then go back to chatting with the porter. We felt that we missed out on learning about Nepali culture and nature. We wanted to hear about the locals who greeted us and find out the history behind the villages we were passing through,we know how a good guide makes a trip. We suspected that he was more used to being a second guide or a porter rather than the main guide. When we got back to Kathmandu this was confirmed by a quick check on TripAdvisor in which our guide was mentioned several times as a secondary guide or porter but never as the main guide. I challenged this with the company, I didn't expect anything and knew it wouldn't change anything but hoped they would perhaps just apologise and learn from my feedback. Messages went back and forth in which I was told he was a qualified guide, I asked several times how much experience he'd had but the question was avoided. This reaction was really disappointing, after a long exchange of messages I got some kind of apology but it was really too late and left a sour taste to be honest. I'm sure that with one of the more experienced guides we would have had a different experience, as most other customers have, but we can only go on our experience. These types of holidays are once in a lifetime and I'm afraid that we felt that ours was a bit of a missed opportunity to be blown away by the beauty and culture.
