Mount Lhotse Expedition Brief Insight

Mt. Lhotse is better known as “South Peak” and is a part of the Everest region with a height of 8,516 meters making it the fourth-highest mountain in the world. Mount Lhotse Expedition has 3 summits, the main summit at 8,516 meters, Lhotse Middle at 8,414 meters, and Lhotse Shar at 8,383 meters.

Lhotse is best known for its proximity to Mt. Everest and the fact that climbers ascending the standard route on that peak spend some time on its northwest face. Mt. Lhotse was first climbed by a Swiss expedition in the year of 1956.

It is the smallest prominence i.e. only 610m, among all 8,000 meters peak. Lhotse is famous for its tremendous and dramatic south face. Because the south face raises 3.2 km within 2.25km horizontal distance making it the steepest face of this size in the whole world.

This makes it extremely difficult to climb and only a few have attempted and got success. The south face of Lhotse Peak is one of the largest mountain faces on the earth.

Mount Lhotse Expedition is an adventurous journey to the fourth highest mountain in the world. Lhotse Peak lies in the Mahalangur Himal which is a part of the Great Himalaya. The main route of the mountain is the Everest’s south col.

In the year of 1955, the first attempt to climb Lhotse was held by the mountaineer Norman Dyhrefurth. During the climbing time, the views of the neighboring mountain are supreme such as the Everest, Island Peak, Makalu, Pumori, and Cho Oyu. The first Nepali to climb Lhotse was Urkien Tshering Sherpa on 8 May 1977.

Lhotse Expedition offers the trekking trip with a typical taste of Sherpa village and culture, the villager’s life and the vibes of getting into that culture. The peak climbing also offers the awesome view of mountain, flora, and fauna before taking a step in a snowy land.

The Pines tree and the bamboo forest in the hilly region surrounded by the snow-capped mountain are just awesome. The majestic view from the top of the peak to Everest, Makalu, and other mountain is breathtaking.

Lhotse Peak climbing route:

The famous route for Lhotse peak is from its north side via Khumbu icefall sharing its length with Everest south route. As we have already mention south face provide the most impressive view. The first Expedition from the south side was done by Yugo Slavian leads by A.Kunaver.

The western face of Lhotse is known as Lhotse Face. Any climber bound for the south col of Everest must climb this 1,125m wall of glacial blue ice. There are two rocky sections called Yellow Band and the Geneva Spur interrupt the icy ascent on the upper part of the face.

The south face of Lhotse Peak climbing was finally climbed in 1990 by Russian expedition team a few months after Cesen’s climb. They told that the wall is impossible to climb by a single person.

Lhotse Peak Climbing Itinerary

As the weather change in just a while in the mountain region, the exact itinerary can’t be made but, tentatively it will take about 45-50 days of trekking. During that time you have to carry a medical kit for yourself and hygienic food. The climbing of this peak is quite challenging for people who don’t have much climbing experience and training. 50 days of trekking need good stamina and the will to be there at the top of the peak.

The team you will have are most amazing and experienced. They will tell you everything you need to do on the mountain. If you are a challenging person and want to achieve something in the climbing field then don’t wait for the time do order this Lhotse Peak Climbing and get satisfied for the rest of your life.
