Pikey Peak Trek/Climbing Brief Insight

Pikey peak trek 4060m is a new trekking destination in Nepal that are being discovered in recent years.  This is a less discovered trek in the Everest region offering the best experience of the Sherpa culture and the Himalayan Scenery.

This is the closest substitute to the packed Everest trek. The trek offers a magnificent view of the most sought after peaks of Everest, Kanchanjunga and Makalu. The trail passes through the beaten trail that is enhanced by the authentic sherpa Villages and monasteries.

Pikey Peak Trek is a 7 days short trek that rewards you with the best view of Everest.  It is one of the best hilltops to see the panoramic view including Mount Everest and more in Ramechhap district of Nepal.

In the best weather, the pikey peak climbing will give you an opportunity to witness the best sunrise and sunset panoramic view of Everest and more Himalayas range with the deep green valleys.

The trekking trail route to the peak is covered with lush forests of rhododendron, oak, and pine. You will be walking through numerous villages perched on ridge tops surrounded by terraced fields.

Peaky peak climbing is the best option if you’re looking for a short trek in the Everest region near Kathmandu. This is a great yet less disclosed route. In case you’re feeling competent or are just short on time, this can be done in just 3-4 days.

If you’re looking forward to a more leisurely 6-day trek, you will have to allow for a physical workout without the stress. This will also give you an opportunity to visit a number of Buddhist sites (monasteries, gompas, and stupas).

Take your time enjoying the unparalleled scenery by adding a few more days on the Pikey Peak trek. This itinerary allows for a more leisurely pace and is well suited to trekkers who don’t want the extra physical challenge that the 3-day option requires.

The trek starts with a scenic drive towards the east of Kathmandu. You will witness the rolling hills with gushing waterfalls, farmlands, terraces and untarnished village in the foreground of snow peaks. This makes the journey even more awe-inspiring.

Once we begin walking, we will be greeted by the authentic Buddhist villages marked by prayers flag, Chortens and Mane walls. The rustic monasteries and authentic Sherpa villages are long gone in Everest Trail. Therefore, you have very fewer chances to see some here as you walk along the trail.

Walkthrough Rhododendron forest and come to the high pastures with far-reaching views. Just like the most treks in Nepal, Pikey Peak is most exciting during the spring as the weather is perfect and the sceneries along the journey are spectacular.

Other than that, the trekking can also be done during the fall and the winter months have given its lower elevation. As for during the monsoon, as the trails and all of the surrounding can get very wet in this region, we advise you to avoid this trek.

You also won’t be able to get clear views of the spectacular snow-capped mountains as the skies are likely to be covered with thick fog and clouds.

Pikey peak is basically a seasonal snowy hill where local Sherpas, residing in the region go for short hiking trips and also to hang the prayer flag on the top.  The name of the peak “Peaky” represents the sky over nature. It is believed to be a Clan deity of the Sherpas.

In recent years, the Pikey peak has become one of the most popular short trek destinations of Nepal among the tourist and Nepalese hiking community.

Within a week hiking, you are rewarded with the best view of Himalayas from Dhaulagiri in the west to Mt. Kanchenjunga in the east including Everest.

There is a good facility for access to local transport and the presence of fewer tourists with very simple accommodation.

This Pikey Peak trek is best for every kind of person who is willing to see the best view of Everest and antique landscapes within a few days. Not only that, but you will also get a rare opportunity to experiment and explore the local Sherpa cultures, farmer village, the well-painted Buddhist monasteries, and rhododendron forest.
